FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

3rd Annual Hook A Cure Fishing Tournament to Hit the Waters July 10th.

Cape Ann’s Marina and Resort to host annual fundraising event

Gloucester, MA (May 2020) - Hook A Cure Fishing Tournament, a fundraiser to benefit the two local Cancer charities, will kick off its third annual event at the Cape Ann’s Marina and Resort on July 10th, 2020. The event will begin early, as captains, crew and anglers leave for a day of deep sea fishing. Cash bar, dinner, awards, raffle and auction to follow after official “weigh-in.” Three-time Super Bowl Champion and cancer survivor, Joe Andruzzi, will attend as a special guest, join anglers as a fisherman, and serve as the Auctioneer. Dana- Farber Cancer Institute patients and families will participate, as well.

All proceeds will benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research, in Boston, MA., as well as The Joe Andruzzi Foundation, which has provided 380 grants in the North Shore alone as well as over $1.13 million in direct financial assistance throughout New England in 2018.

Former Wicked Tuna Captains from the National Geographic Television Channel show will be donating their services, boats and crew, providing a thrilling and entertaining fishing experience to some fortunate anglers.

“Whether you are a beginner or seasoned fisherman, there’s fun for everyone,” says Pat Morris, Co-Chair and Founder. “Participants will fish for Stripers, Bluefish, and groundfish from shore, private boat entry or tournament charter boat. It is an exciting event for all.”

“After my husband, Russell Morris, an avid fisherman, died from lung cancer in 2013, I rode in the Pan Mass Challenge, walked the Jimmy Fund Walk, and, now, have founded the Hook A Cure Fishing Tournament in his memory. I’ve been so fortunate to have many of my friends join me, with bikes, boats, bait and hope, in our fight against cancer.”

The tournament will begin at 6:30 AM with captains, crew, and fishermen making their way out of the Marina. Pre-registration is required. No experience necessary. Breakfast will be under the Cape Ann Marina Pavilion tent before launch. Lunch, and gear will be provided on board.
